Christmas decorations are going up in cities and villages across Italy, but we are still holding onto autumn with its golden colours and hanging mists in the hills. Some days the sun is so warm giving a false sense of a forgotten summer. On a dull damp day, a village festival with a neccio (a crêpe made with the wonderful smoked local chestnut flour) and the clank of the basket being turned over the fire with a glass of mulled wine warms the heart.
